Is there another way to tell apart besides a magnet.I have two shafts magnet sticks to both of them but alot better to one. They look the same nice and shinny like stainless.Thanks.

yes there is . weigh them. the stainless will be heavier.that should be the one thats not as magnetic if it is stainless. sometimes stainless will be slightly magnetic due to being energized but not much at all. you should clearly be able to tell

On Mercury shafts, you can usually see the difference at the base of the water pump housing as the High Perf shafts tend to corrode/rust there where the fishing motor shafts still look new. Also, the fishing motor shafts almost have shadows of circles on the shaft itself.

No rust or corrosion on either one,one still in case so i cant weigh them. The magnet will barley stick to one of them but i thought it shouldn't stick at all.I put the magnet to the water pump studs and no stick at all i know there stainless.thanks
