Nice rigging job. Did you anodize that pulley, or does merc send em out that way?

What kind of boat is that? The bow of the topcap looks kind either a supra or flightcraft? A 17p will definately dry you off on the way up outta the water, does it track as good as the inboard rigs?

I appreciate your high praise very much CLEAVOR thanks. The Flightcraft was an Australian hull, it pulled many multilple event tournaments for years for the World Waterski Association, pulled the World barefoots 8-9 times and was chosen as the official towboat for the Olympic Games in Seoul Korea in 1988. I had a 92 built for me by Malibu, who had by then purchased and was building the Flightcraft. I completely rebuilt/redesigned/fabricated the interior a couple years back, all seats are on sliders allowing forward/aft adjustment to the added footwells and have collapsable shells so great access to the storage compartments I built in behind them. Glad I left no stone unturned during the repower process, tried to do it right!!! The driving, skiing and tracking have in large part been allowed to improve due to the new short shaft motors lower height/placement and it's rigidity.

The DFIs were a bit of a false start, though. The DFI range got pulled from dealer shelves, redesigned and relaunched as Optimax.

And the Optis did not start to work flawlessly until around 2001.

Warby was involved with the first Flightcraft boat imports and sales back in the day.

This is my Gen I 2006 Merc 200xs 15 SM. I bought it new from Allison Boats and it now has 17hrs on the clock. It is stock except for the exhaust block off plate is removed. I ran this on a 550lbs 17' v-pad but will stick it on an Allison SS-2000 this season. It is a strong engine that runs real cheap. I can really recommend the 200xs. I am not sure I will tune this one, if I want more power and revs I'll try to find a 200xs sst power head - they turn 8000rpm.

Was 2006 the last year that the Generation I 200XS motor was offered?

Yes, 2006 was the last year. A fun fact is that my engine was one of the two last to leave Mercury Racing. I guess they were sitting on the shelf and shipped out the back door... as Mercury Racing abandoned the 2.5 liter platform.

Abandonded? NOT. Alive and kicking. Bring on the competition just make sure it has more displacement.

Well, I meant abandoned as a consumer engine, as a race engine it is stronger than ever, so strong no other 200HO can match it... I see these engines race here in the Offshore 3C class and they are now reaching truly impressive speeds. I like what Mercury Racing has done so I am leaving it at that.
