Merc say the demand in europe is what created the engine in the ssm and the offshore versions as you cant even import a second hand engine over there on a boat or not.
Yes I hope they continue for years to come
I guess they have other engines for pleasureboats?

Not arguing with you, but I didn't see anywhere on the motors that said they were CARB or EPA certified.

For what they are, I thought the 200XS/ROS were good little motors - but by no means the performance of the old 2.5/280/ROS. And for the weight of them (435 #s), I would rather have a built-up 3.2XS/15" mid setup like I'm building right now. It should only be 30 #s or so heavier and almost 100 hp more with the DBR mods. The 200XS/ROS just isn't enough horsepower at 240 cshp.

    Ok
As a race only they dont require that in the US
I'll bet the EU ones are euro compliant as I am pretty sure they have no race only exemption
Maybe they only paid to have euro emission compliance?
Clearly saying no warranty also keeps the consumer away
Ps they werebuilt to fit into f2 and be emission compliant enough to be legal in europe.
Hence they are what they are
    Thankyou mercury

Curious, have the 200XS Gen 2 ROS motors spent actual time on a couple of different shop dynos to confirm that propshaft horsepower is 240?

I dont know much but I wonder if it is similar to a 280 but the power is less due to the parasitic loses from the air pump and only having 6800 limiter instead of 7600?

The ROS makes its peak power around 7k but will turn higher rpm, the SST powercurve peaks at 8k and is not limited @8k

Do you know what the compression is or the fuel and air pressure?
