Performance and fuel economy are two different metrics. I would prefer to get dyno figures for HP first to see what the GenII is really making. Fuel economy, while nice is a VERY distant second priority IMO.

Fuel will be very circumstancial. If you have a little 2.5L motor trying to push a big heavy boat, being taxed more, fuel burn would increase dramatically as opposed to a larger displacement motor (I know, it takes fuel to feed the larger motor). Now on a light, HP hull I would think the smaller motor would be more economical.

Someone over in Europe must have the dyno sheets for the GenII motor. Post them up so we can be jealous here in the US!

Mabey the boys on the merc racing tour got to see one run on a dyno? Or, if they have a dyno record from mine from the break in run, I will ask for it! Some info on mercs blog from april 11 about the conversion kits.

Running great, thinking about putting a jack on it, need a drum of oil as well. My sources at mercury insist they ARE making 240, SSHHHH don't tell anyone!!!! Enjoying the **** out of this motor. 350 hours logged now 4636 liters used, will tally up the total oil used as well which will be - LOTS. Really smooth perfomer as the rpm's climb with no harshness at all on top. You guys can do your own math on operating costs. Not many Gen 2's out there yet unfortunately, so unlikely to have many comments made about them from real world users/racers.

I sent mercury racing a downpayment in october of 09 and received the motor in april of 2010 after a slight delay. It showed up in a box marked NOT FOR SALE IN THE USA or CANADA.

What are they going on Rayzor? I would like to know if they would crack 100mph on a new style 22 daytona such as
    Bully's.

You have also made the right choice Rayzor. My ONLY advise would be to purchase the recomended oil. I could not believe the difference in odor and smoke when i ran out of the good stuff and topped up with other oil. Absolutely gross in comparison. Wonder which oil chris fairchild is using? I do appreciate the smartcraft system/info as well. You will be fast and efficient, happy rigging.

xsflight, is it possible that you are the ONLY S+F'er in North America that has bought, rigged and is currently running a Gen2 200XS ROS ?

I'm having CMS Powerboats build me a new Cougar 23MTR. I'm going to rig it and keep it light, so I'm shooting for 105 top end with it (a 23MTR ran 114 w/ 2.5/260s back in '96). Paul would know better than I about how they would do on a 22' like his, but I think it would have a hard time getting over a hundred with these motors - unless you had it built light (carbon/kevlar layup, lightweight interior). I checked into building a new carbon/kevlar 22' Daytona, and they want big $$$ for one.

Thanks for the advice, I will definetly always run their recommended oil and fresh 91 octane at all times!

Greg, I do believe so, production numbers so far are very slim, I may have the only complete ROS over here period, I do know one SST conversion kit came to Canada as well but hasn't been run yet. LOTS of experience/hours with mine already and having sooo much more fun with this motor.
