Upgrading my 300xs
so after 4 years of using my motor in stock form i decided to do some bolt on's..after several phone call's to simon and getting his input on mods, i bit the bullet and sent him my ecu and flywheel. additional bolt on will be a poppet diverter, cutting the stock tuner and installing a str 4" throttle body. after getting my parts back from simon i took it out yesterday for a little run, just to make sure it ran ok with no issues. Initial impression with my 28 throphy was a little fast holeshot and accelleration. i could not run top end as the lake was to rough. i did notice a little more vibration at idle due to removing the dampner and the additional material that has been removed. (not a big deal, but not as smooth as it was stock). i will run it again tomm at the river were i will get some top end number's with the trophy. the prop has always ran 100 mph on the nose@ 6350. so i will get a base line with this prop to see what gains are had. i will post back soon with the results..

Dont own an XS but still interested on this! Do you surface your trophy? I know they are amazing props but even on a tunnel?

Merctech,
When you run your top speed at 6350 is at the rev limiter? Do you here the buzzer? I want to do the mods also but was hesitant on whether you gain anything in HP on the top end.
Looking forward to the post with the results.

Jay Ive been surfacing my 25 trophy for 5 years. The new 27 Allicut i just got in the fall runs amazing at even with the pad on my Allison into the 90,s. By far the props ive run the most because they just always do it for me. The Drag4 is the second most run prop on myboat. Always semi surfaced half in half out.

Run your big prop! I wanna hear if you get any higher top end numbers. Not with that puny little 28!

I have both props, but you're gonna need a 34 to hit those numbers.

LOL. Was talking about merctech.
Anyone ballsy enough to even attempt to mod a DFI OB has my respect, there's alot of delicate event timing going on there, I can only imagine what the mind boggling tune looks like.> Stainless steel Merc cowling plates - $110 shipped TYD - LINK <

The second fastest prop I have run on my little cat is a Trophy and it is almost half surfaced (can hear the exhaust clearly coming out the hub). The problem is it walks the stern sideways.
