I have one on my 3 liter, 250EFI pushing a 24 foot boat, most of the time at or near WOT, they do not make the low water pickup one though(I asked when I bought mine), from everything I have read and experieced so far, they hold up well. Assembled in Sarasota area, with parts from who knows where, but who cares with a 3 year unconditional warranty. They come packaged extremely well, and have an online forum that the tech. department actually answers if you have any questions. Unfortunately though, they do not make one for your motor. I have a friend that is a mercury dealer, and his cost on the mercury replacement lower was almost 3x what this thing costs, with 1/3 the warranty. i paid $795, plus $50 shipping for mine, and sold my blown up one on Ebay for $400(of course I told them it was blown), so for a little over $400, I got a NEW unit with 3 years warranty, how can you go wrong??

I bought one for a OMC V-4 big block. Seems to be doing OK, all foreign made parts so who knows. The casting and finish on the case was horrible. OK for a boat pulling a shrimp net but not even good enough for pleasure use. If they had spent a little time and made and finished a good casting then I would try and sell more.
Every time I see one all I can think of is Harbor Freight hand tools!Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

They make 3 liter lowers with low water pick ups. It costs
100 dollars more. My friend got one about 2 weeks ago. All the
ones I have seen from sterndrive looked great no casting marks
or anything like that

I flat abuse mine! I mean I bounce off stumps, drag bottom,&run in silt. There is not a thing wrong w/ them. Paint could probably used a little better prep job but for the 820 bucks I will buy a cpl cans of good black paint and touch it up as needed. I as well had no casting marks.
