JW, heres what a Etec guy like me would do. If my Hull would acomodate a 25hp motor, then Id shop for one of them, same weight,170ish with trim/tilt, different trim n tilt, its faster on the 15ho for Kickers, and a different bracket, however if you compare the Beefiness of the Etec 25/30 or 15 Ho to a Merc,Yamaha, or Honda 25 or comparable what you will see is that Evinrude used a way stronger and beefier lower unit, the prop and prop shaft is larger, the displacement, torque and power curve is Night and Day. Im not at all Tryin to convince you, its just such a difference behind the wheel, I was truly impressed when I put a 25 Etec trim n tilt on a 18ft Toon, it was just like the 40/60 motors, instant power and Right to Red line, the torque is truly impressive. The speeds that it produces vs. lets say the Merc-Ohatsu 25/30 is astounding, averages 4-7mph on gps. you should be able to gather that data online. Anyways my buddy Eric Olson was 1 of the pivotal people and development guys on the 15HO and he says its Killer, yet for close $$$ the 25 has more power....Just my 2 cents buddy.....Brannon

I received an ad today for the 15 Etec. Two models, one 177 the other 183 pounds. That's crazy, my 15 weighs about 75 pounds! How would you lift that onto a Zodiac tied to a swim platform?? Why the heck does anyone need power trim and electric start on a 15?

The heavy 101 pound 15 Honda in my avatar went on the back of the pontoon boat, which was a perfect match. So now I need a light weight 15 hp 2-stroke for the Alumacraft. Sounds like this new 15 is a big heavy pig? Whoa!

Yes guys, We all need to wait until the Real 9.9 and 15s come out. See the Walleye guys were freakin out cause all of the 9.9 Johnsons/Suzukis were gone, so they BRP had to get a Kicker motor for the 100s or 900s of Rangers that go out with E-TECs, Im sure once the Plant thing is worked out, and hopefully more Americans right here in Wisconsin go back to work, making the 8hp,9.9hp and 15hp E-TECs, then some day maybe Little motors, but I think we need to get the 350 E-TEC Big Boy and Lil guy out before we go crazy....Its quite expensive to just go out and completely make a all new motor, it will come but for now, no light weight Lil motors from Evil'Rude...The 25 is best in class, but the days of feather weight 2 strokes are gone with the EPA Regs......Good luck on your search, have a dealer do a Complete search, you would be surprised how many NEW Johnson carbed 2 strokes are out there in boxes and engine stands. Too bad it was'nt a '78. Did you see this Greg? http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/boa/1613761136.html You have a little grease showing on the swivel bracket there. Might want to take care of that.
