    Off motor fuel filter mounting position ???????

    When mounting an off motor spin-on fuel filter/water seperator, do they have to be mounted vertical or is horizontial acceptable ?????????

    If you want to drain off the water, the drain has to be on the bottom.

    It may filter sideways but it wouldn't be a water sepertor sideways

    I use a Racor with a drain. That way if it actually comes into play I can just piddle off the water, pitch it overboard, and restart.

    Maybe my first crack at this should have been "the part where the drain is supposed to be has to be down."

    A screw on would be messy (and maybe dangerous) when underway.
