Hydrostream Voyager XT with 300 XS
Does any one have some experience with a 300 XS on a Hydrostream Voyager XT.
I just purchased a brand new 2010 300 XS (20" mid, sportsmaster 1.62) for my Hydrostream Voyager XT, and was wondering what experience any one has had with this combination. Any performance numbers? How does the boat handle with the weight?
PS Any body need a broke 2004 200XS for parts, 1.86 sportsmaster rebuilt w/ approx. 20 hours.

My best with the 200 XS was 76 mph on GPS, but 72 mph any day.

I will definitely post some pictures and performance numbers, once I get the boat set up. Also, have to wait til April or May for it to be warm enough to run.

I'm driving to Tennesse to pick-up the new 300XS, and plan to install it on my boat in April. I keep the boat out at the Shuswap lake. The earliest I should be able to run it on the lake will be in April, as soon as I finish rigging it.
The one picture I posted at 75 mph, happen to be around April 15 (a couple of years ago). We took the boat out for a rip in the morning, and went snowmobiling in 20 ft of snow in the afternoon. The snowmobile staging area starts at about 500 ft above the lake.

The DFI optimax compressor broke of its mount, no longer getting air injection, it in turn caused cylinder 1 and 4 to run hot. In both cylinders the bottom part of the cylinder sleeve broke off and jammed between the piston and exhaust port. Unfortunately, no prior warning on the smartcraft system. Damage to the cylinder sleeves means it requires a whole new powerhead ($7000). The DFI compressor and miscellaneous parts is another ($2000). At this cost, I decided to part it out and buy a new engine.

Gotcha..... sounds like a serious meltdown! I bought my boat in Deleware, drove it down there and it ran great. 2 days before I got there a Merc mechanic gave it a $700 tune-up as the boat had sat inside for 4 years, I dragged it home and dumped her in the lake did 1 pass and the lower unit grenaded! $3000 later she runs like a top.....moral of this story is check for the 25 cent washers on the oil fill and drain bolts before you put it in the water!

It's about time you got rid of that 200 xs, I got tired of the look on Kirk's face every time I beat you in a race. It was like I took his favorite toy from him each time we raced!
Looks like those those days are over! At least I got 4 good years in of bugging your wife. You better hope you can get it over 84 mph with that 300 and beat me or it's going to be a long, long summer!

I have the same boat. Before blowing up my 2005 2.5xs (225hp) Optimax last week, I was able to run 85mph (GPS) with just me in the boat. 78mph with 4 adults.
I am looking to repower. Let us know how it runs.

If you have the time let me know why you went with the 300xs (besides 300hp). I am shopping around and it seems the Merc. 250 has a better warranty. I am not sure of all the differances of Sport, Pro, Xs. etc. I see Yamaha has a new 250hp coming out and how do the e-techs do on these boats?
