225/250 Etec VS Etec HO

Just bought a 2013 Etec 250 HO was delivered from factory on Friday got a six year warranty should be rigged by 4th of July. I see this string is a couple years old an was wondering if everyone still feels the same an what was up with the warranty an rigging issues?

Lower units warranty issues? Personally I'm excited I'm gonna be the Guinnie pig for my friends in the Hamptons to run a Etec 250 HO everyone is running Optimax 250/300xs or Yamaha 250 SHO's.

Keep fresh gearcase oil in it and you'll be fine....make sure you have 3/8" I.D. fuel line from pickup in the tank to the motor....this includes valves. Youll be fine against those guys.

The L2 case sold on early 250HO is the one with the issues and is no longer available. Your 12 will have a M2 which is a strong case but not great for performance due to its size.

Thanks guys I'm in heavy Merc yammie country an for some reason there not that fond of The 250 HO in theses parts. I figured with a 6 year warranty 3 yrs no maintenance free rigging an $5300 cost diference I couldn't afford not to go evinrude vs SHO 250!!!!! You say keep fresh gear oil in it is this something I should do out side of the 3yr dealer maintance?

My thoughts exactly an this will go on for the next six glorious years or until I get something bigger an faster!!!! Very curious though you guys seem to know everything. Will I be the first to run a ETEC 250 HO on a 24' SuperBoat?
