I almost caught it, but it landed right on the end of the tail. The tail motor holder broke in half, sheared off the wires, and the tail gear got nicked. The tail boom, landing gear, canopy, battery holder, and one blade was already fractured before the flight.

Chad, what would be a good Spektrum receiver to replace the Walkera unit on the F40?

Stop wasting money on that thing. There's a perfectly good Spektrum receiver in your Blade 400. You should be flying that one anyway.

I tried out a sim yesterday for a change (imagine that!) I "flew" a 500-sized collective-pitch model, and it flew like a dream. Responsive, not dull and sluggish. I tried idle-up mode and found that I already understand the mechanics good enough to do a few flips and inverted hovers on the first try! I think I need a collective pitch heli, like right now...

I already have the DX6i, and yours would look good next to your mSR. Why don't you sell me your Blade 400 as a BNF if you're not going to use it?

The only time I removed the B400 from the box was to take that quick photo of it. Heck I didn't even remove the blade holder. I don't think I want to part with it since I'm keeping it for when I feel I can fly it reliably without destroying it. If I change my mind though and decide to sell it I'll let you know.

well no main gear yet, it seems they're on back order just like alot of the parts. I spent a long time reading on another website learning about the SR. Someone already converted it to a belt drive tail rotar. Pretty cool. Made the little carbon fins, they came out ok for an test set. Just waiting on parts............ Nothing to fly now but the sim.

Just a warning to anyone who starts reading this thread, Youll be a minimum of $300 poorer in just weeks of buying these copters I went to my hobby store (Warrick Hobbies) to buy the 4 port lipo charger with a/c adapter for $50 when my sales guy said i could just buy the bnf mSR for $129 that comes with the 4 port so i figured for $80 i got my mSR. But seriously the 4 port charger with a/c adapter is a must, I flew my mcx, msr, and piper cub from 10 to 1 last night never running out of batteries! good luck

That charger is great. I use it for my mCX, mSR, and Ultra-Micro Cub. That little plane is so much fun it's crazy.

Well how can there not be spare parts around for the SR? I read on another forum that you can modify the main gear from a CP pro to be used in a SR, Might try that next if I cant get one, I hear they're going to be out till june. Sucks.

Based on what I've read so far, the issue with the SR is, many people ran out and bought it expecting it to be as easy to fly as an mSR, but they found out it wasn't. I see many people that use the mSR think helicopters should all hover hands-off = though E-Flite never stated the SR could do that, nor would I want it to. Self-stabilized helis like the mSR get quirky because of their stabilized rotor heads. Anyway, it's a new heli and I'm sure the parts will be available very soon.

    Re-did the lights...

The tail strobe wires are still fished through the boom, with the LED chip hot glued in the end of the hole...

That looks really cool Chad, thanks for posting. Have you used the 150mAh batteries? I've been using those and I feel the mSR handles a bit better with them.

I use Hyperion CX G3 130 mAh Lipo's. They weigh 4 grams each, and give me 6:30 flight times. The E-flite 150's are too heavy for their mAh rating, IMO. My mSR is already heavy enough. It has reinforced canopy pins, a clear canopy that weighs 1 gram more than stock, LED lights kit, etc...

My boat Chine walks if I stop steering it. Your mSR is the same way. If you make it your mission to "fix" your TBE, you'll spend more time screwing with it than you will flying it. TBE is not caused by any one single issue, but rather a combination of multi-point flybar/servo/linkage play, and general wear. Parts that "bind up" and are not loose enough will also aggravate it.

Eventually you'll learn to steer it out like second nature, and you won't even notice it, kinda like driving a pad-vee bottom.
