I'm still working hard to develop the talent to take this bird in the air. I'm not confident enough to try yet though. I've been spending some time on the simulator and using the mSR, but I don't have much free time lately so it will take a while.
I also picked up this really cool RC heli tool kit. It seems to have everything and it was only $35 at Xheli.com. I really like the ball-link pliers.

Nice tool box. You need to add a tube of blue Locktite and a bottle of CA glue. I like the CA glue for the tires. It's a bit thicker.
FYI I check my fasters on a regular basis.

Thanks Paul - yeah, I already have the CA and loctite in with my other RC tools. I don't have red loctite yet since I just don't see the use for it (yet), just the blue. I also have the Integy hex drivers for the cars and they're really well made. Look at what you guys did to me.

Alright, I am officially hooked. I came home with this new Blade SR today. My local hobby shop got two in and they reserved one for me. After flying it, I am blown away (no pun intended). This heli is so incredibly stable and the default stick curves really help for a novice like me. Mine does none of the tail-wagging I've read about and it has a ton of power. You have to try this one.

Just go for the CP pro2, the SR isnt 3D ready out of the box. You would need to get a new remote.. Even then a review I read said it still might not be 3D The CP pro is almost the same cost. I was going to get a SR I've put it off a bit to fly on the simulator. I talked to the guy at the hobby shop and I could probably get the CP Pro2 for like 200$

Chad already has a Spektrum DX6i so that controller issue is moot
Remember that the SR is also brushless and the CP is not.

Get the 400 if you are going with eflite. I am not against eflite, but I have had CPs with little success. A stable tail (yaw) is a must. Electric motors on the tail just won't get it when it comes time for the nut cutting. Get something from Align/JR/etc if you really want to go!
Keep practicing on the sim. It WILL pay off!

Chad, I picked up one of those tiny keychain cameras. The instructions are awful - can you give me a quick rundown on how this works? Right now it's charging - I'm assuming that the solid yellow light indicates it's charging?

Thanks for the tips as always, Forkin. You got us onto these mSR's to start with. I flew mine in the front yard all forkin day today. Did some more front and back flips. The last couple of hard crashed messed something up I can't figure out. Not as much forward cyclic as before, but plate is together, gear is on fully, turns full RPM's but doesn't spin as loosely now, and it constantly throws off a lower link during flight. Hmmm.... I hovered a pack on the falcon 40 on the driveway and took it easy with my last set of blades so I don't break them. Nose-in is tough with this heli because it's so slow to respond. That's why I think I want something better, but I can't afford a B400 right now.
Keychain camera:
(two buttons are fake.) rear-most real button is power. Hold for 2 seconds to power on/off. Front button-- press once to take a bad still photo. Light blinks off once to acknowledge. HOLD front button 2 seconds to shoot video. Light blinks 3 times to acknowledge, light stays off while shooting. Press again to stop. Light comes back on. Camera powers off after a bit of idling.
To set the date, write a text file with the date/time format and name as indicated in the EngRish manual, and drag/drop it into the camera's root directory. Turn it off and back on. It will erase the file as it reads it, setting the internal clock to the values you feed it. Dead battery resets the clock.
Good luck.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI
