No way that thing will fly for 40 minutes. Usually all the micro electrics will fly around 10-15 minutes, but they recharge very quickly.

Well, it can be trying on your mind especially with the CPs…. After concentrating pretty hard for 5 minutes I am ready for a break. My Trex 500 has a 2500mAh 6s 22.2 volt lipo battery. If I remember right the motor will take 40amps or so max on climb outs etc. and won't last 5 min if you beat on it hard enough.

Actually the lighter lithium polymers are better to charge slow and cool. It takes a special balance charger for my larger lipos. I have 4 batteries for the small helis, and the mSR comes with a 4 bank charger that is DC or AC.

Keep in mind it will bite you on the ass. I bought 50 bucks worth of parts for mine in case. Blade grips were the first to go, and then it lost some of the washers on the feathering shaft… FYI. Pick up some CA glue too while you are at the hobby shop.

Forkin, Greg was just referring to the fact that the little 3/4 ounce birds with li-po packs will charge fully in about 20 minutes. The tiny packs in these are 3.7v, 68mAh, but I've seen the new metal frame mini's with 140-ish mAh packs. They just plug into the controller to charge, it's very simple. They also use IR instaead of radio, kinds like a TV remote. They rely on a bounce off the indoor ceiling to function properly. You have to be careful where you wave the controller or you'll lose signal The circuit on the heli will "fill in the gap" if this happens, freezing the throttle and control until it picks the signal back up again. It essentially gives you a warning: When it twitches, it can't see the remote. The controls will freeze for up to 4 seconds before it shuts down. This is a minor problem when you lose control under full throttle.

I almost got one of those little coax 4-channel mini's, but splurged on the bigger one instead. I might still get a tiny 4-channel anyway. Most of the Ebay sellers are in Hong Kong.

Check out the "Engrish" instructions. LOL! Best I've ever seen. More at www.engrish.com

I have broken one of the pivot pins from the rotor core, and superglued it back on a total of FOUR times. I can reassemble the pieces blindfolded. I've got another core on the way from our friends in China, hopefully the Syma part will fit, it looks exactly the same in the photos.

I have also broken off the little stem below the tail rotor, it now has a packaging tape fin.

I don't know how I'm going to keep a bigger, less-forgiving bird together...

I still like my coaxial. Esky Lama V4. Got some hours on it. These can be had for around $90 w/extra battery. Its currently at my office and gets my clients attention pretty easily.

In these, it was still a learning phase as I'm flying tail in but its trimmed pretty good as you can tell.

Here's Dad up in the loft. He wanted to give it a try and did pretty good. Tail in, if in doubt, let off the throttle easily....
He liked it so much that he's bought two.

The problem for me is I still haven't mastered it. Flying a basic pattern is easy but trying to fly nose in is challenging. Would love to consider a fixed pitch w/tail rotor but not sure. Paul, any suggestions?

    Merry Christmas gang.

I find that the RC helicopters i've tried to fly indoors, seem to always migrate towards the priceless, delicate glass figurines on the shelf in the living room!
