I never had a problem flying it before, now it is uncontrollable almost as if the remote has no effect. It went from hands free hover to TBE as soon as it leaves the ground something is WRONG there is no way to not notice the TBE unless its sitting on the ground

Flybar is new ill try the links.

That's a great video Chad - your flying is really good. Which camera are you using?

I fixed it back in the air

    Here was the fix
Verify Links are installed with "tooling" marks positioned away from balls
(the Links eye's are bevelled on one surface, and "squared" on the opposite surface)
(on the the surface that has the "squared" eyes, the Links have a "break-off" "tooling" mark in the middle of the shaft between the eyes)
(Links must be installed with bevelled eye surface towards balls, resulting in the Link's "tooling" mark facing away from the balls)

I guess i put two of the links on backwards at one point

I just looked at mine and one was backwards. . And broke the damn blade grip turning it around. My LHS still doesn't have landing gear.

I broke my homemade landing gear today. I have a set of 'MIA' aftermarket skids in transit.

I have the Microheli aluminum upper parts on mine.
I modified my grip plate for more throw.
As you can see from the video, it's insane.

I picked up this new Falcon 40 to mess with and for training. I saw Chad had one, so I figured I would give it a try.

I flew my mSR into a sinkful of water today. Flew fine for 1 pack after drying out, then the tail started to misbehave. Now it has NO gyro function, tail always spins at the same speed. Grrr...

Greg, I would have gladly sold you mine! Make sure to order extra blades, tail rotor, battery, canopy, and skids. They're only available through Xheli so get them while you still can. The Falcon 40 is an obsolete re-badged Walkera 4#. I've had some fun with learning to hover mine, but have only been flying the mSR lately.

I'd recommend a nice, big garage floor for hover practice...

I did that with my CX2 and had to replace the RX/controler.

May as well buy a BNF. The RX is 1/2 the price of a BNF.

After the board dried out, the gyro started working again. Flew tonight in the house, with my newly shortened swashplate arms, and custom narrowed aluminum grip plate/head/guides. I can reallly toss it around now, I can do vertical stall turns indoors, but it's a bitch to keep the tail under control...

Chad, how did you set the flybar paddles on the Falcon 40? Do you keep them level?

They're supposed to be level, but if you pitch them up 10 or 15 degrees to match the rotor blades, it will hover easier with better stability.

The downside of angling the paddles is that it will slightly limit cyclic authority. When you graduate to flying outdoors in a slight breeze, you'll want to put them back level again. The Falcon 40 will have MUCH slower, delayed cyclic response that you've enjoyed with the mSR. You'll need to learn to stay a step ahead of it, much like driving a pad-vee bottom.

Here's a custom mSR flybar I fabricated from a broken one. The shafts are .060 carbon fiber, and the paddles are thin hand-cut plastic, thinner and broader than stock. I experimented with different amounts of weight in the paddles for the best compromise of stability and insane cyclic response. I can flip it onto its head with NO weights in the paddles, but it's very difficult to maintain a steady hover. Too much weight makes it respond slower, like the stock flybar does. You can also see the CNC aluminum guides, rotor, and grips-- I've also narrowed the distance between the top link balls and shortened the swashplate arms. This heli is crazy now, I love it!

Thanks guys after seeing this thread in the AM, I went out and bought an MSR. Now I need six more 150 AMP batteries. Greg what are your local hobbie shop prices?
