It rocks for a cheap gadget. It has automatic gain control, so it can handle changes in lightness on-the-fly like a big video camera. I tested it out driving in the city at night, and you can read speed limit signs as far ahead as in real life. No nasty twinkling around headlights and streetlights. The audio is even OK.
I taped the camera to my hat for the flying video.
I gutted the battery and patched it into the mSR's board, it flew for about 10 seconds at WOT before losing altitude and crashing.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

So, I only want to buy one of these things, The MSR. Could i learn on that or should you start with the MCX.

Start with the mCX, learn how to move in each direction while facing each direction.
Then, move to the mSR and cut loose.
Or, do like I did, buy an mSR, break lots of parts, buy a $150 transmitter, then learn how to fly.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

My brother inlaw came over today with his MSR, I've been watching this thread and have flown the air hogs twin thunder (p.o.s), and the brookstone you fly twin rotor chinook, it was better but I had to return 4 of them only 1 was because of a crash. The switch on one broke and the pins flew out of the flybar on 2 of them. Needless to say I took the last one back and got my money back. My brother inlaw was suprised I could fly the MSR as well as I did. He flys it better, but for flying the MSR for the first time I think I did pretty good, I dont have 100% control but I could fly it around the room and got a feel for the controls. I have a video and I'll try to get it posted, if I can figure that out. Gonna have to get me one.

Alright, who's going to be the first to buy the Blade 400?

I hear mixed reviews on those. From what I keep reading, the next real step should be a custom-built T-Rex 450 like Forkin's heli. It's a big jump in price range, though...
I already own a good transmitter.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

The Blade 400 is tempting in that it already comes with the DX6i. I don't have a lot of extra time to mess with them, but it looks like fun.

Yea, they have some GF kits that come with gyros and sevos, so all you have to do is buy a RX. I understand that some parts exchange on these birds. I figure the worst (cheap) part about the B400 would be electronics.
Get a good simulator. It is harder than you think. Especially nose in and foward flight. Steep bank turns are a bit tricky. It doesn't fly like an RC plane. I flew on the sim about a 9 months before I even bought a heli kit.

Well, I figured I deserved a bit of an early birthday present, so I brought this home with me. I know I'm certainly not ready to fly a CP heli, but I was going to buy the DX6i anyway, and since the hobby shop gave me a REALLY good price on this, it was a deal that made sense. So, I won't have to buy "RTF" models anymore, and when I'm ready for a CP heli, I'll have this one waiting. Additionally, I got RealFlight Basic, so I'll be spending a lot of time (when I have it) on the sim. Also, Sandi works at a hotel with 10,000 sq. ft. conference rooms, so I'll have an indoor practice facility anytime I want.
Oh yeah - Chad and Paul, I blame both of you for this.

Greg...nice blade 400!! The Blade 400 was the first CP heli I ever had. They fly great once you get them set up right. Make sure you go through and set everything up...don't trust the factory setup, everything might not be adjusted right. There is LOTS of stuff to adjust and set up on a CP heli, that's why I really like them. Make sure all of your servo arms are at 90 degrees when the sticks are centered, also make sure your swash plate is level all the way around. It makes a world of different on how it flys.
Also, the charge they come with it junk!! I picked up one of these chargers, and they are great! Well worth the $50.

If you haven't flown it yet, you are going to be amazed at how fast those blades sound when you spin it up for the first time....nothing like a small little 4channel FP heli. Just watch out...I made the mistake of trying to fly it in my garage, and if those blades touch ANYTHING when you are flying, they are going to tear it up. It's best to fly it outdoors
Also, if you have questions on the setup, and to see some great videos on the Blade 400 (maintenance and setup videos), check out this site....it's FULL of great people that are more than willing to help you out.

520 bones and all you'd need is a RX. Look at the "scratch and dent". There are always deals there.
Well I forgot batteries and a balance charger.
You can get skimpy and buy a cheaper kit. Put together the electronics youself.
I didn't spare much on the most important thing, the electronics.
For the cheap skates that can't fly but like to build... LOL!

Greg, that's awesome that you jumped the gun and got the CP. The DX6i alone will make the purchase worthwhile. You can set it up for each of your other helis you've already purchased.
I was doing tic-tocs and funnels today. You can only give the mSR a certain amount of throttle before the torque overcomes the ability of the tail motor to counter it.
The mSR is a load of fun, especially with the DX6i.
It's been over a week since I even touched the Falcon 40.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI
