It hovers really easily now.
Watch me take my thumbs off the sticks for 6 or 7 seconds toward the end of the video:

I'm still kicking myself. Here it was got dragged out 5am black friday and I saw those tiny ones for $10. So I think I'll get one for a family member for fun, hmmm could be junk, ok well maybe one for me too! I had big bags full of stuff, could hardly carry it all at the time....because carts slow you down. So here it is just before Christmas and the woman says who is that for? I say well, me. Umm, how about we give that to my brother he would like that she says. I think ok whatever...if we must. Sure thing Christmas he is flying that thing non stop, if I would have known it worked so well I would have stuffed a couple more in my bags somehow....but I ended up with nothing.

Here's my little MCX. I had to fly it with one stick while I recorded the video.

Went to the hobby shop tonight to fly in the back room...
This is the result of about a dozen low-altitude crashes.
I chipped a blade, smashed the canopy, and broke the landing gear again, real good this time. This is actually only about $17 worth of damage. The heli still flies great, I'm just a terrible pilot.

I'll be keeping my eye out for a cheap one for inside. I don't see any for $10 on the net of course.

Don't waste the money on the cheap ones. They're really slow, and they don't handle like a real heli. If you decide to try a real 4/5/6-channel heli later on, you'll have the right/left/roll controls all wrong.
The little pink SYMA SO10 is a very durable coaxial 3-channel if you want the basics. It goes forward+back, and has rudder function for yawing/turning. It can't roll though. Also, it doesn't have a gyro, so you use the trim control to try to keep it from turning unexpectedly, so you have to constantly mess with the trim, and the tail will drift around easily.
The Blade mCX like Greg purchased is a good 4-channel coaxial, which is still fairly slow, but handles easy. The little green 4-channel I got off Ebay for $28 only rolls fully left, right, forward of backward. You can't go "just a little", the right stick is all or nothing. Both of these have a gyro device, so the tail stays where you point it, within reason.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

I started flying the MSR last night, and I'm glad I got started on the MCX. I did very well though, and was able to control it and get it to do what I wanted for the most part. It's much more twitchy than the MCX, so it will require more practice. Lots of fun though!

How much money does it take to get into flying the cheaper ones?

Big green: cheap fixed-pitch heli with tail motor: $90
Small pink: SYMA SO10 3-channel, infrared-controlled: $25 on Ebay or $50 at the mall
Small Green: Hong Kong 4-channel, infrared-controlled: $28 shipped
Small Blue: E-Flite Blade MSR: $180 with controller. $130 on Ebay with no controller
Yellow mCX coaxial (like Greg's) should run about $100-130 at the hobby shop.
The larger entry-level collective-pitch helis are closer to $300-400, and the GOOD collective-pitch electric helis are $600-1200.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

When I bought my "good one", the receipt was over 1400... But that was with a 6S 2500 mAh lipo and a really nice balance charger.
I tried to fly mine today, but it would go into an uncontrolable piro when I left the ground. The last time hitting hard and stripping the tail rotor blades off. Seems I have broken another gyro.???? Soon to tell.

That sucks. I'm afraid to get into something that fancy. After the carnage last night at the hobby shop, I'm thinking of selling the F40 after I replace the broken parts.

LOL, "carnage" aint that often the case with RC stuff. That was one redeeming thing about my RC10 it didn't break much and not so hard to not run into stuff at speed, unlike things that fly.
