Got mine. It's awesome.
Greg, you need one of these, too.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

Behold the Blade mCPx...
Flybarless with 3-axis gyro...
A little bigger than the mSR...
This heli is amazing. I have seen the light.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

Did my first inverts the other night. Did three nice flips in my yard.
I've been flying in gusty 15 mph wind, the mCPx barely even feels it.
Collective pitch = good
Flybarless = awesome
Greg? Forkin? Ian? where are you guys?'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

That's awesome Chad, congrats on the inverts. I totally want to see a video of it.
So you're liking that mCP a lot I see - I'm tempted to get one, but I'm also wondering if it's really any better than the SR, which costs the same. Have you flown the SR?

Pretty neat Chad. So does it have another gyro built in to the control unit for the flybarless? Or is that what the counter weights are for on the LE of the rotors?
I need to make a parts order. Raptor is ready less one part (darn remote glow plug wire broke) and I am building another head for my 500. That way if I crash it at the field, I can be back in the air in 15 - 20 minutes. I already have one complete tail assembly and another in parts.

The SR is a sluggish pig with slow response and a tendency to burn up tail motors. They have lots of moving parts.
The mCPx is a "smaller" glimpse of the next level. These 3-axis gyros will make the flybar obsolete. They are already getting a lot of respect with the Trex/Raptor crowd. The system does NOT require any trimming on the Transmitter whatsoever. The gyros automatically drive the C/C servos to stabilize the bird. The swashplate connects directly to the head, with no mechanical mixing. The mixing is all done on the heli, you only need to set up a pitch and throttle curve, and you're golden. It's so stable, you can spool it up on the ground, tip it up on one skid, and it will just stay there, for 5 seconds or more...
The weighted "bullet" blades are designed for smoother outdoor flight. I was only using them because my aerobatic blades were damaged.
They had some early batches with bad grip bearings that threw blades, people were really up in arms, but they've since issued a parts "patch" kit.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

I've been flying the heck out of my Trex 450 clone. I had a little bit of a crash the other day and broke the main blades off of it, but I should have it back together and in the air by this weekend. I've been trying to get get the hang of flying inverted, but as I've learned the hard way....don't try it until you have it down 100% on the simulator
I'll have to post up some pics and video if I can get a change to fly it this weekend.

I've got to dust mine (SR) off and get it ready now that the yard is thawed. Need to double check the linkages and make sure everything is tracking before taking it up.At least the batts are in great condition.
Been getting into profile foamies such as the one here.... YF-22 with a 24" wingspan, tailerons etc. Its amazing how well they fly even with a flat wing/no airfoil. There's a guy on RCGroups who can cut pretty much anything for $25 shipped and did this one for me.

I flew the Micro Mustang and the mCPx a bit today.
Ian and FnC, you guys need one of these. Do your inverted practice over some long grass, and you'll never break anything.'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

The mCPx weighs 1.5 ounces, and runs off LiPo cell batteries. This is absolutely the perfect "first CP heli", but it's NOt a good "first" heli if you're new to helis. something like the Blade mSR is a good place to start-- You can learn control and orientation indoors, it's self-stabilizing, and very crash-durable.
A few months later, you'll be back for the mCPx...'89 Hydrostream Vegas XT, '90 Merc 2.4 Bridgeport PCU EFI

Completed and installed floats on my big Cessna...
I built struts from lightweight aluminum tubing...
The rudder was made from Stack-On part drawer dividers.
The rudder cable is an automotive oil pressure sender line and a classical guitar "G" string.
