    lose power while trimming.

i have a 225 promax on a 2002xb. the last few trips i took her out i noticed when i would trim the motor after getting on plane it would lose power, and as soon as i would let go the trim it would go back to normal. could this be the rectifier or just a bad battery connection?

    It sounds like

A bad battery connection or ground somewhere. You may be dropping the voltage to your ECU which is bad for the life of the ECU $$$.

    trim speed loss

the ones we have seen are usually a bad connection at battery or a bad/weak battery. could be rectifier problem showing up as low battery.
simple check is to charge battery and run again. do not run at idle speed prior to check as this pulls battery down and will not show you what is wrong
ck all electrical connections under cowl and at battery before spending cash

I had a battery go bad this spring and if I didn't keep the revs high enough it would shut off and then restart after a 1/2 second. I hate to think of the life this took out of the electronics. This is what I get for jump starting at the ramp. Trouble is, it started on the hose before I left home. If your starter is turning okay when cranking then I would check all the connections.

Something I found out the hard way is a battery can have 12 volts but be shot. My 1,000 amp cranking car battery had bad cells but put out 12 volts. I found the problem with the turkey baster specific gravity tester. The first cell was gone and they progressivly got better.
The battery basicaly had no ass and this destroyed my ring gear on the flywheel. My stupidity, I held the key and it would start. slowly but it would start so I didn't fix it.

    It's funny

how we will spend a fortune on the boat and the go fast parts, but we won't buy a $60 battery every 3-4 years.

My battery cost over $100 and was 1 year old.
Can't be that it's reading 12 volts. But it barely cranks the engine!
This was on a BBC Vette so I guess the winter killed it.
Now I buy $40-60 batteries and replace them "when they don't go to work on monday."

I also changed the cable ends to the eye for the boat type wing nuts.
Changed a starter and went back to return the core. Turned the key, the wiring shifted and shorted against the hot exhaust (very tight and forgot to wrap with insulation) Smoke poured out of every spot of the hood, air intake vents and the gills.Panic!.
The battery is behind the drivers seat. I was out of the car and spinning the wing nut like a demon. Had the battery disconnected under 30 seconds. Try that with the regular car clamps.
