Renault F1 team patented an electro/ hydraulic valve train.
They never raced with it even so it was then banned.
F1 engines must have cams and 4 valves.

Hello All.
This is Michaelis, There has been some recent conversations on the new Yamaha outboards that are coming out in 2010. Here's a little video preview that compares a new 2010 Yamaha outboard to a Yamaha Series 2 motor. The hole shot is incredible!!

You can get a counter. They are going to have an offshore series. Counter will come in 25 and 30 inch motors.

Ed's marine already has the 250HP SHO at $15400, not bad money for a high-tech 4 stroke...

I thought the Evinrude was faster than that, interesting. It was only tested with 1 person in the boat too.

I suspect that the reason 2 stroke outboards are stuck with 20 year old technology is the same reason OMC f'd up with the original Fitch motors ... there is too much variation in set up and use.
As I post over and over again ... bike manufacturers and jetski manufacturers build the whole vehicle and therefore have a huge amount of control over how the motor will be applied. Outboard makers have no such luxury. One motor goes on a light layup bassboat and the next one goes on a 80 ton work barge ... the next 1000 go on various applications in between, each one taking a different control algorithm family. Every possible load condition has to be known and logged in advance ... the variableness of flow in a 2 stroke motor is just too complex if you can't control most of the application conditions, much less all of them or nearly so.

It happened to OMC before the Ficht, they put those big carbs on the early loopers and on a heavy boat they were dogs,
on light boat real screamers.

Question. The 380 hp hpdi from Hydro Tech people were referring to, is that the 70hp phase kit they offer?
