1970 LS7 454 crate engine
Does anyone know what HP rating this engine might have?

IIRC 450hp

The LS6 was rated at 450hp, the LS7 had a big jump in compression and a lot more cam shaft.
I dont know if they ever put a HP rating on the LS71981 Viking, 2.4 mod v/p

I stand corrected, I knew one of the LS motors was 450....

ok fellas, a little LS knowledge here
:edit: these are the Gen3 and Gen4 LS motors. the 70's stuff is a bit um (old) beyond my knowledge
child of the 80's, what can i say?
LS1: 5.7L, rated at 300-330 hp
LS2: 6.0L, rated at 400 hp
LS3: 6.2L, rated at 400-435 depending on vehicle
LS4: not yet
LS5: pretty sure it's a fwd version of the ls3, for the monte carlo SS (could be wrong on this one)
LS6: 5.7L, 405 hp, C5 Z06 motor
LS7: 7.0L, 505 hp, C6 Z06 motor
LS8: not yet
LS9: the big billy bad ass, 6.2L (383 cid) supercharged. 620 hp, C6 ZR1 motor.Last edited by Fearless; 10-31-2009 at 10:02 PM.

He's talking 1970, the good OLD stuff, not the new shiat. The good ls6 was in the Old's, one bitch'n motor. It would cost a bunch of money to reproduce one these days. If you could find the parts. My Dad had a 1970 Olds Delta 88, faster than the state troppers cars, he raced one and smoked it.
