I think a 2.5 would kill it. I would run a 70 stinger mod. Or 4cyl omc. Im not an omc guy but in power to weight its prob the best option.

Mine is 10.5ft and does not go that fast with a 35hp but it really comes down to get a motor you can get props for.
Little boats like that are a ton of fun. Inland lake waves look huge in a little boat.
