260 with no spark?
Trying to get my 260 running but I don't have any spark. I have tested both switch boxes replaced them with an extra set I have, 12 coils have been check/tested with, Stator is almost brand new less than 4 hours run time on it, trigger tested good.
Only thing I can think of left is the Flywheel. How can you test a flywheel. Any way to test to see if it's a left hand or right hand flywheel?
What symptoms would you have if you used a left hand flywheel on a right hand engine?
Thanks for the help.

kill switch?

If everything is as U say it is, It will have fire. As far as flywheels RH - LH the ring gear on a LH is larger in diameter.
Check your kill circuit/switch Black wire yellow stripe. If it is grounded in any way you'll have NO FIRE even if everything else is perfect.Bud Conner "Heathen" "Defending Our Constitution"

Kill switch is new and I have even disconnected the blk/yellow wires and still no spark.

Lets start at the beginning. Is this a bought motor, rebuild etc? It has to be something to have no fire at all on all six. If it's not the kill circuit then? Flywheel excites stator, stator sends signal to switch boxes, switch boxes send signal to coils, coils fire spark plugs. Make sure all grounds are good. If the kill circuit is OK then I'd start with checking the stator.
Resistance measurements should be once disconnected from switch boxes:
9 to 16 Amp Battery Charging Capacity
Wire Read To Resistance
Blue Engine GND 5000 - 7000
Blue/White Engine GND 5000 - 7000
Red Engine GND 90 - 200
Red/White Engine GND 90 - 200
Yellow wires are an AC battery charging coil. Very low resistance like 0.5 to 5 ohms between the yellows. Shouldn't be any continuity to ground.
Wiring goes from black to red to blue, and
black to red/w to blue/w.Bud Conner "Heathen" "Defending Our Constitution"

How did you test for spark? Gap tester? Holding the spark plug to the block? Timing light? Are you certain it's a spark problem and not the drivers out on the ECU?

Was left hand motor that was running when I moved it from one boat to another. In the move I needed to change this motor from a left hand to right hand ( bought a flywheel and starter). So from my running left hand to where it sits now the only things that have been changed on the engine are the flywheel and starter.
I have CDI switch boxes and Stator.
Blue/White or blue wire to ground reads 2100 ohms
Red/White or Red to ground reads 50 ohms
CDI states:
blue/white to gnd 2200-2400
blue to gnd 2200-2400
red/white to gnd 30-90
red to gnd30-90
either Yellow to ground is open
yellow to yellow is 0 ohm
Tested spark by holding a plug to the block first then tested with a gap tester. I'm also running a PCU and I can drive over and have Tony check it but he said that it was not a problem with the ECU if you are not getting spark.
thanks for replies and help.Last edited by ddipert; 10-04-2009 at 08:53 AM.

On a 260 the ECU just controls the injectors, not the spark.

Have you done res. checks as per manual? checking the wires the way you have, checks for a short to ground, but does not check the res of the individual stator coils, ie. low speed, charge etc.
Just a thought

Problem fixed. Bad hub or left hand hub in flywheel either way it wasn't working and now it is.
Thanks for the advice.
