250 pro xs coil falt code and runs bad ?
We dumped boat in at this not so good ramp that has strong currents riping
Ws just pulling away and moter quit . ready to hit a concrete bridge , I fired up kicker and avoided crash
At 100 hours I lost a coil and a ecm . now i have 550 hrs and I lost all spark , found fuse blown , replaced fuse , runs but rough and has coil falty issue on smart craft .
Is ths a comon issue with these ?
can a guy pack a spare coil , restiance ck to find falty one ?
Would be nice to pinpoint the bad coil and replace on the water to get home
We get in some rough seas ect . and if the would have failed after we made it to our destnation . it would have taken 2 days to get home on our kicker
Last time it took out the driver in the ecm that we diagnsoed here at my trans/auto shop with out the book or lap top , and my merc guy had same diagnose and repaired .
I just ordered the merc shop manual cant talk to ecm as i have no soft ware
I am suspecting a water intrusion on weather pac to coil causing fuse to blow , or a relay issue or is there some thing else on same circut causeing a issue to blow fuse ?

bad coil's
are common on the pro xs and all xs motor's in general, i would keep a spare on the boat. one shorted coil will blow the fuse and that means no start situation. you will need a multimeter, spare fuses and a coil...
