    Exclamation 1993 evinrude 200 surging

    My buddy just bought a 1993 hydrasport cc with a 1993 evinrude oceanrunner 200 runs pretty good but when you open it up to around 5200 rpm it begins to surge from about 4600 to 5200 rpms any ideas on what it could be

    Surging is usually because of a fuel delivery problem. Hook up a fuel pressure gauge and monitor it at all speeds. It should be steady and above 5psi.

    Also temporarily install a clear fuel line and "tee-in" a vacuum gauge at the fuel pump inlet fitting. Run the boat and look for air bubbles in the line and/or any vacuum reading above 4" Hg. A good fuel system will be between 2.5-3.5" Hg including an anti-siphon valve.
