    Operating RPM

I have a 13ft boat and it has a 1985 Mercury 50 HP outboard. I currently have a 14p prop (P/N 816706A40P14) and the enging runs 6800 RPM at @30 MPH. I would like to get it to go faster. I have no trouble getting it to plane. I was told i need to know the operating range of the engine. I have no manual. Any advice info would be helpful. Thanks.
Oh here is a pic of boat, I now have a CMC trim/tilt.

Most two stroke outboards should run mid 5's if they are not modified. If you are at 6800, you are WAAYYY underpropped and could probably go a lot faster with a longer prop. Might have to balance between getting on plane or going fast though with a short boat.
Don't know whats available for that LU, but if it's a 14p you could go 16 or better I would imagine.
