    seriously?

    Am I THAT DUMB?

    sheesh!

    I'll have to try that!

I looked all through the genuine mercury service manual ... didn't find what I was looking for.

I guess that makes sense - don't want it locked down in forward - in case you do hit something you want it to come up!
    DUH!

I'm slow - but I catch on eventually - now to come up with some sort of rope / cable set up so I don't have to endanger my lower back every time I want to tilt this thing up and out of the water.

For now it's living on the boat hoist - since we're not getting the old supra out of storage this year (7 month old son has changed some things!)

The 6 cyl inlines are fairly easy to tilt, because of the heavier powerhead acting as a counter weight, the 4 cyl ones were a pain to tilt.

Can you post some video of you trying to tilt the motor in neutral?

Cool ignorance is not always bliss! forward gear for tilt! got it!

You'll just have to use your imagination for that one..... I do enough to make a fool of myself without recording it!

Although yesterday evening I managed to put the flux core 110 welder atop a 6ft ladder, on the dock, and weld a bracket I'd fabbed to the boathouse frame - without dropping the welder or myself in the water, and without starting anything on fire - and the bracket is darned near level too!

Not bad for an amateur - now to mount the square D rain proof sub panel and get the lights and boat lift wired permanently - finally - the "temporary" electrical hook up has been there for a few years now.
