Well I got a little problem now. He won't come down since the board with mesh is a new item in his path.
Kids came home from school so I unplugged the "chair" and closed up the garage so he can get real comfortable with the new obstacle in his path.
Here is my devious plan...Haha...
He will be running all up and downing thinking gee what a nice guy I am installing a nice slip proof area ("Electric Chair" ~ Unplugged) so he doesn't fall and get hurt trying to run from me. He will come down and get a nice last meal. I will step out back and flip the breaker on, tip toe with video camera in hand...Haha...and wam open the garage door and kick the lights on. He will go running as usual and head right up his wire accross my slip-proof area (The "Electric Chair" for those confused). Bam I got it on video for all those that can stomach it.

That rat-ecution device has got me thinking of a movie I've seen. Member The Green Mile? If it works an he can't let go I think you're g'na need some kind of smoke dector in there. I think 120 would be plenty to do it. I remeber when we were kids my folks had one of them Presto Electric Hotdog Cookers. An electrode on each end, 120 volts AC and they didn't take long to cook!

electrocution
a friend and I made a device like that years ago to get rid of a few rats in his shop, plugged it in and went home for the night, on the way home had thoughts of a flaming rat running around setting the place on fire, went back and unplugged it,,,,,

Boys, put your testosterone away. Why does it always take a woman to solve your problems? If the rat is there to eat the dog food, why don't you just store the dog food inside the house for a week. The rat will see that there is nothing there and will move on to find other food.

Hey 20--
Stop being practical--this is too much fun! Is Greg still running the "best thread" contest?
Jay--not as easy as you think. Florida rats are clearly smarter than Texas rats--but I guess that goes without saying. I started with the Hav-A-Hart trap with the two doors, peanut butter on the hair trigger in the middle. Worked a few years ago, more recently I find doors closed, peanut butter gone, no rat????
So I went to the snap traps. Again, 2 traps tripped, peanut butter gone, no rat.
Finally got him with a glue trap. But I like the idea of the chair and steel drum.Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

That's bad advice dudette. The rat won't leave. If I take away his food he will start eating other things like wiring, plastics and wood. Nothing is safe and I know this from experience. The fcuker must die.
Take the dog food inside Should I give him a key to the door or do you think he knows about the hidden key under the door mat? The only reason he has not moved in with us and started banging my wife is the dogs so there is no testosterone issues here...
My main worry is the foodLast edited by JohnBoy; 08-27-2009 at 08:55 AM. Reason: Edit for female...Sorry about that
