I found it interesting that a prior patent had described the ability to sonic-supercharge a two cylinder by a tuned common exhaust. OMC just expanded it to include "three or more cylinders". The other referenced patents were very interesting also. I also realized how hard it is to read a patent...

    Thanks for the links.

So how much stuffing you remove will determine the tuner used.
More stuffing removed less low end power.
So removing too much stuffing on a stock timed eng with a stock tuner my not show a increase in power but less power?
So if you open the chest up and run a shorter/wider angle tuner then you lose bottom end but gain on higher RPM's
But if you put a 1" spacer in front of the reeds, would it help recover some of the lost the bottom end???

One thing to consider when stuffing the crank case you are increasing velocity through the ports. when the velocity increases the angles and directions of the transfers need to be adjusted.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate all of the knowledge and advice on this board!

ID:	371186It's amazing how this chest makes enough bottom end to make a triton tr 20 come out hole much better than a 250 pro xs and still push the boat over 80 with full tournament load? There may be something to gain by stuffing and spacers??

That exhaust looks somewhat like what Junior and Del Eaves used to do for us drag racing but a little more curvy.
    We needed bottom end also.

A different angle on another one I've done. Real similar to what Eaves was doing. The main difference is I am blending the angle in the space between the ports and Eaves was leaving an edge. I think I like Eaves way a little better as it should have a little better velocity and help prevent flow from sticking to floor and help send it over the next guy in line. I think on next build I'm gonna try it that way and see how it does. You are right it does make a surprising amount of low/ midrange power. BTW Eaves was the man!

I think someone needs to make a stacker from a v6 or even 2x 3 into 1 collector

Very interesting and thought provoking thread.
There's a lot to be taken from this even though i,m building a V4 trying to get a strong 6500 RPM not for all out speed.
Just a strong reliable lake motor.
How does polished exhaust (mirror shine) compare to a smooth finish?
Longer for carbon to bind to ?
    Faster flow ?

    I love my Bikini

I like to polish mine mainly so carbon doesn't stick and restrict/slow flow in the long run. I feel a not so slick finish actually flows better and would be great on motor that was constantly coming apart and getting cleaned.

    Whats different with the powerhead?
The exhaust is longer than stock, more low end..is it for waterskiing?
    Lol
