    Hydrostream HST or HSP

Newbie to forums. Looking to buy my 1st Hydrostream. Found a 1989 tunnel hull, but not sure of the model. I know there are a lot of Hydrostream experts here cause I've been reading posts for two days. I was told it was a HST. The vin begins with HSP. I will attempt to upload a couple pics. Please tell me what you think. Thanks.

HST... bad ass find... buy it or post up the seller's info and someone else here will. Hang a black motor on the back of that baby and you're there.

Wow, not what I was expecting to hear, but happy to hear! The boat appears to be in very good condition, original gel coat, but clearcoated. The Suzuki supposedly runs perfect and has very little time since overhaul. I have yet to test drive but plan to soon. Hopefully someone doesn't beat me to the punch. Just trying to come up w/ the funds...thanks for your reply.

the HST is a good hull, and can be made pretty fast. They were ran in Mod VP at one time, not sure how successful they were if at all, but hey its a race hull none the less. I have heard that lots of them are very heavy due to extensive foam use, etc.

This would be my 1st Hydrostream. I have always owned stern drives w/ the exception of an 18' Twister modified v/tunnel w/ a 200hp merc, but that was a long time ago. It did fly!

I think all Stream HINs started with HSP, it means Hydrostream Pipkorn.

Check out this link for more info on Stream HINs.

Look carefully for rot, core, transom, floor. This goes for any 20 year old boat.

I don't think HSTs had core.

posted this in your other suzuki thread
    Hi,
Just a heads up, I went up there last year to buy that boat, Its original gel but it has been cleared over. The old reg number stickers that were peeled off and cleared over. The contrast between the two look as if the numbers are painted on. Nothing you can do cause its under the clear. The seller claims it to be original gel not clear coated. You can tell the boat was extremely weathered at one time, looks like they brought it back and threw a bunch of clear on it. Put new seats in the front, and reapolstered the rear. Make me wonder if the hull is saturated with water. Looks to me as though it spent alot of time outside with no cover.
The hull itself is dinged up pretty good. Lots of chips that go down into the glass. The current seller has only had it for a summer. And is pretty vague on the history of the boat.

As far as performance, he claimed last year it was a 90 mph boat, now I see its advertised as a 80 mph boat. Best I saw was 78 gps in it. Im sure it will touch eighty with some seat time, but that motor big heavy and low reving. I have spent alot of seat time in V-kings and Vectors and this boat just felt really heavy to me. I know the HST is a totally different hull design, but it made me start to think it was holding some water. (seacrh some of the HST threads)

I walked away from it too, and the price we agreed on was 7200 as it was the end of the summer
