making outboard louder?
I’m currently trying to make my 1979 200 hp v6 mercury have out of water exhaust? What do I actually do? I know I have to cut some stuff and pull the power head but does anyone know where I actually cut? Does anyone have diagrams or anything?

Louder just annoys people and encourages those who would put restrictions in place. Louder doesn't gain enough speed to care about.

Why do you want loud if you don't heve the engine to back it up. Mine sounds like a funny car but I have the HP and speed to back up the sound.
Something to think about.
Have a Great Memorial Day Weekend!!

I always told the kids, "you can get by with a whole lot more if you do it quietly!" Why would you want to attract attention. It really irks me when I see/hear an open stack inboard roaring across the lake at about 60 mph when I could kick his a** with my Merc 150 and he would never hear me go by! If you wanna make noise, join the race circuit. Loud river racers just make it tough on everyone.

remove powerhead, remove can, drill holes in mid. theres more than one way to do it
Try searching bobs exhaust housing, Talon mod and stuff like that in the search

Matter of fact, drill real big holes in the mid-section and you will go so fast that you will even leave your lower unit behind! If you would like, I can send you a drawing so that you will know exactly where to drill them and the correct size, about 11/2" in diameter just above the water pump. Three to six holes ought to do it.

Why would he drill big holes to damage the mid section????????????????? I'm going to put the off shore on my motor, is that a waste of time for me?????? I don't think so. I see people with 150s running it. I dont care about hp or if people get pist at me. You dont like it.... stay off my lake then.LOL.

Loud does not make you fast, makes you a problem, my motors are loud, but I can't help that! Keep a low profile!

I'm not trying to discourage you I used to think I wanted mine louder till I had it. It's not just loud outside the boat. You wont be able to talk to people or hear the radio. Get's old after a while. Do a seacch there are lots of threads with photo's.
Happily Misunderstood....

I think only certain old people, fishermen, and homo's dont like loud
But with the bobs/Talon mods you can close it and still have silent; stealth mode Drilled exhaust sound cool. Mines quiet and i dont like it...
