Can I run an Fuel Injector Cleaner through my 200 EFI
Would it cause any damage to my merc 200 EFI if I ran an off the shelf injector cleaner fluid through?
I haven't run my engine in a couple of summers - so provided it starts up I'd like to put the injector cleaner in my 1st tank of gas this summer.
What i have in hand is STP Fuel Injector Cleaner
Thanks!

If it sat for two years I would pull the injectors and send them to Brucato for a cleaning,it will be alot cheaper than a meltdown.

If you do decide to try it, I would run some sea foam through the system. I had a 200 efi pro max motor in storage for several years, I mixed sea foam with the fuel. I took the water/separator filter and lines off first and pumped fresh fuel/oil and sea foam mixture all the way to the electric fuel pump. I didn't have any problems but some folks said I got luck..

So - I ran the seafoam through on my first tank on the weekend. thanks for that tip.
Engine fired up no problem and ran well (so far). No alarms, no loss in performance. I haven't run it up to red line as of yet. I ran it with lots of variation in RPM.
Am I through the woods then? Would I have seen an issue with the engine at start up, idle and with running it for an hour?
Fingers crossed here still.

I use Sea Foam its a GREAT product BUT there is no substitute for a good BRUCATO cleaning and calibration...

If it was me, I would spend a little bit of time and a little bit of money on it. Send your injectors to Brucato to get them professionally done. I would also replace all of the fuel lines and bleed hoses, along with a new fuel filter.
Good luck!
