"pro drivers" like in this shot where the boat is 6' in the air and the throttles are matted?

you can't talk sense to these guys man, if its something that they don't understand, they'll bash it... Kinda like carb guys back in the early EFI days.

Guess you missed the "some" part...

The boat that won had quad 300xs, the rest had 350s Y & M...

Dude I love the Mercury HP graph, Ive seen several Independent (supposedly) dynos that show the Old 250 XS at 274 or better, Heck Ive talked to Merc Racing about the 250 Pro XS and its more like 260 and change, maybe some are 274 but those are built on Wedensdays....Why else would the other HOT 250 Smoke it, and everyone knows that it and its White Brother in the 300 are the same, so someone is lying here....Either way, guys we are in a Huge HP war, we have 3-killer 250s, and a couple Good 4 stroke 250s.....heck the Suzuki 250 SS was within 2mph of a 250 Pro XS on a Bass Cat Puma, it was 77 and 79, but the Zuki ran a 30pitch prop because of the gearing, that is 1 sweet motor, even a sweet gear case...If Honda wanted to they could really bring us a 4 stroke to think about, heck if Yamaha or Honda wanted to "take Over" with Titanium valves, 5 valve heads, 13:1 Compression ratios, 15,000 RPM redlines, hell Yammie put that R1 Crotch rocket motor in a Sled,PWC,boats, everything, now out a hood on it and go for it....

I hear ya, but at that level of competition, all the drivers should all be pretty skilled, boats should be setup for optimum performance.
