Old photo's from Mike Gordans
I found these photos I had taken from Mike Gordon's in Miami before they closed.
They are pictures of pictures so the quality suffers but they bring back some great memories. I wish I had more information about action in the shots.
I sure miss that place!

Great old photo's. All famous shots, from Blonde driving through the yacht, to Reggie Fountains infamous tunnel backflip at the Miami Marine Stadium. Brought back the memories. Mike was a great guy & very involved with the racing scene back then.

The Three Tunnel Blowover--
I was there. I am pretty sure it was at the 1975 OPC Nationals at the Marine Stadium. I had the Miami Herald with that photo for years--somehow it disappeared during a move somewhere along the line.

The picture of "Second Mortage" was taken during kilo trials on the SR 84 canal west of Ft. Lauderdale in 65or 66. Jock Horner and I were on a patrol boat next to the west end of the course. Buddy Pumo just kept flying it higher until he got the record. I had never seen a picture of that run but it matches the one in my memory of that day.

I was fortunate enough to call Mike a friend, and was honored to give him one of my racing photos for the wall of the restaurant....did you find a photo of Top Banana?
I have given Mike some good reviews on my site.... www.bananaboatco.com
Look under the heritage section. It was because of Mike that I first met Don Aronow.

The photo of the Last Blast was a 280 Hydro when it set the kilo record at 123.456 mph in Moorehaven. Owned by Skip Gillam and driven by Andy Coker. When he went through the traps the boat never touched the water in either direction, it actually floated above the water, only the rudder and prop was in the water. The skid fin was removed.
Lot of good memories there, as well as good food.
The Florida Inboard Racing Club had an annual award named for Mike, the Mike Gordon Silver Helmet Award.
Mike also sponsored boats as well as races including the Mike Gordon GN race there at the Stadium.Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
