    Gary---

What is the end grain plywood that runs vertically just behind the front wall of the box?

    Well............

as Mick Jagger said, "Pools' in but the patio ain't dry".
The base is in and glassed. Basically all the structural work is now done on the transom/knees/lounge etc.
Next will be figuring out the engineering involved in making the lounge itself do what it's doing in my mind.
After a yr and a 1/2 of being in a bad mood this project is about to turn the corner and become fun
Pat, Bondo. I built that box copying the dimensions off the old box not realizing that since it was wrapped with padded vinyl it fit and filled a non-square area just fine. Built mine square and reminded myself of working on old houses. Nothing is square
Also notice the drink holders I was looking for.

    Bit more headway...

Lounge is basically done other than making the lid which I'm going to build a form/mold for.
Finished the storage hatches (other than paint) for the lounge and the V-berth. I used the cut outs from the V-berth inner liner storage shelves I added and ripped them into strips to glue/glass to perimeter of hatch openings to support the lids.
With the base of the V-berth (liner) all opened up I added some strength there too. Used to be tabbed to inside of hull at orig. (aft) openings only and was all broke/pulled loose. Re-glassed that back together then mixed up some glue/filler and filleted along the forward area of the liner that was orig. just set in the adhesive when constructed and unaccessible. I then glassed the entire joint with a layer of 1708.
Figure w/the knees/lounge and what I did in the bow this thing is probably 50% stronger than orig.
Figure I also added 100% more storage which will be huge
Also notice the trick little TP holder I found
