    99% Yammi's over......

    here.

We have a small harbor at the end of the street and other than one neighbors beater e-bay boats, all but one (a 13' Whaler w/a 40 yr old 25 OMC) are Yammi powered.
Almost all 4 strokes but a few 2 stroke.
    The local harbors are same.

I'd say on the road when I travel up and down our coast it remains similar too.
Used to see a bunch of Verados when they first came out but is now closer to 50/50 on those to E-Tec's behind Yammi. Seeing more and more Suzuki's.
From what I've read they may be the best in 4 stroke.

My neighbors all own them because thats what everyone else told them to buy They used to stop in my garage to tell me how great the 4 strokes are.
    For some reason they stopped
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

maybe in fresh water these jap engines come apart easly, but not in salt, mercury as the best allum alloy and is the only brand that offers a 3 year corrosion waranty.yamahas do not come apart without a tourch.and flushing them with there crapy flushing device does not flush the entire engine.you still need to run with the muffs.just my apinion after working on outboards for over 26years in fl.

Up north in De yammy has by far the majority of the fish market. I agree on the salt issue. Grady's come prerigged with yammies and the whaler's mercs(verados) and alot of customers change out to yamaha. Just an observation. Rick

my uncle's down in the keys with his family, hes on his third rental boat because the 2 mercs blew up in no time. The mechanic at the rental place said it was the plugs and he wanted to try new ones my uncle said ok and what are you gonna do about that gaping oily hole in the side of the block?

he put about 4hrs on the 3rd rental boat which is yami powered

So Guys, Is Suzuki really bringing out the DF 400? I want to see how they make it, as in Block, amount of cylinders etc....with companys worrying about efficiencys youd think the smaller more sellable motors would be looked at, but I guess down south the big motors RULE.....I cant wait to see this MONSTER..

if the 400 is even comming id like to see it weigh comperable to a verado 350 or 300... then i could justify overpowering my fishin boat by 200 instead of 100...

4-16-2014. 25 years old today... the fishin boat doesnt look to bad for a classic does she

things that were are no longer as they are today...
