you would lose a little on bottom end and gain very little (if any) on top. if you want to experiment with your promax, i would remove the water seperating filter on the motor and put it in the boat. i would also remove the reservoir/pump and run a 260 style fuel/pump setup with return line. this should allow better air flow.

Most people say the wet reed is a little snappier on the hit and through out the midrange. The Horn seems to produce a little more topend but not a whole lot. There was a couple of people making wet reed spacers for the horn motor. Came with plugs to put in the crankcase injector holes and moved the injectors to the front of the reeds..

How can wet reeds be snappier if the gas charge is further from the cylinders?

All I can figure being a layman is that the fuel being injected before the reed tends to atomize better passing through the reed cages as well as mixture distribution might be a little better .Maybe it gets a better ram effect being the aircharge is denser with fuel suspended.. The reeds probably seal better being wet as well as last longer as a bonus..

I really do not have a scientific answer as to why it makes a difference but I have heard from several people that it does..

    Dunno,

I just wish someone could tell me if the horn and the svs are dry reed motors. how come everytime i ran mine and change the reeds, the reed and cages were full of oil. Also if the wet reeds are quicker how come 99% of all the progas, profuel and u-boats don't run them. Seems like it would be just the other way around. after all these guys are pro's and would do what ever it takes to win. later Larry D

Well, ya ole fart, I call it a wet reed mota kuz tha fuel mix iz flow'in THRU tha reeds when tha injectors are in tha front ov the reeds...Don't meen tha reeds stay dry...kuz they don't..az U already know!!!

Also if the wet reeds are quicker how come 99% of all the progas, profuel and u-boats don't run them.
They are QUICKER down low and in midrange,(over the case injected mota)...Each to thier own, kuz I have seen MADD front motas kick azz in thoze classes(azz other types ov fronts with injectors in front ov the reeds)...I have personally tested diffrent types ov fronts on my pro120 motas and the wet reed motas wuz quicker, and depending on the typw ov front, wuz quicker thru the hole 1/4 mile...But, thats juss a 2liter...My ole 10pack wuz quicker than tha horn, but tha horn turn'd more rpm on top...Tha MADD front wuz quicker than both, and turn'd a few more rpm on top...

We had this conversation one time at a race, and Big boy(Taylor, kan't remember hiz first name, Galen wuz drive'in hiz bote) tested hiz drag mota with a MADD front, first with injectors in the case, and then in the front(in front ov the reeds), he said there wuz a couple 10ths differnce, with the wet reeds bein quicker!!...I know U kan remember big boyz name, call him and let him tell ya juss how he did tha test, wuz very interest'in...

I wunder if Dave Bush runs a wet reed mota???....

    Merry Christmas ole man!!!
