Maybe gettin warmer somewhere but it aint here. Snowin like a bastid right now the news has advised everybody to stay home unless absolutely necessary. Woops, speakin of driven in a blizzard gotta go its football day and I'm very low on tequila.
I consider that absolutely necessary........................................................................LETS STORM THE CASTLE BOYS!

True, I don't remember it being this bad ever. Sure, we has much colder spells, but withouth the wind. And not in December! Hell, I did concrete foundations twice on Dec 24th. Only January would get cold.
This makes me think about those airtight homes up North- burn one bundle of wood in a stove and the house would be warm all night long. This is the way to build and/or upgrade!

Just got home and stove was running low, low fire-air flow. Put in three more pices of wood and opened up the air, it's cranking heat to say the least. BTW, stove is in the basement, 80% finished. I open up two ceiling tiles with lets the heat penatrate the soundproofing insulation, about is a double tung & grove floor. This stores up the heat and radiates it upstairs long after the stove is off. The stairwell is about 8 ft in front of the stove. If I wanted to I could inclose the stove in soapstone for even longer heat storage.
Like I said, 30-$40 a month for my gas, includes cooking and hot water!INXS

Is your wood free?
My sister owns a property in Lake County, Ill that is the oldest natural oak stand. Plus many trees that died that both stand up and are down. Hm... I remodeled the house, freed the space within and added an option for the forced air heat/cool.
But this heat option makes me wonder)

I've got 1.25 acres and I boarder a few more acres of town land which use to be watlands until the county decided to redig the creek to prevent the West Nile diease! Anyway there's lots of wood as I have lots of tall trees on my property. I cut down about five a yr, depending on the size and what I pick up at the town re-cycle center or on the streets. Local tree cutters also will drop you off wood, for free or maybe a few bucks. Check around, someone always has a spliter if not go halfs with someone or maybe a three way partnership, they work well!
BTW, what happens when the power goes off with any convential system?
I hear my stove company, Quadra Fire, has had it's patent run out so now all the others companies can use there induction air system. This should hold or lower prices. I paid 2500 four yrs ago that was with a lot of piping and installation, keep in mind anything in NJ costs! You may be able to get it for less, cut out labor, about 600 and it's even cheaper! Your town would have to appr. the installation anyway and I'm sure if you ask the inspector will walk you thru it!
No matter what, look into it!INXS
