    Laser Boats

My father had a 17 foot laser with a 200hp Merc when I was growing up but my mother sold it after he was killed. I am really trying to find another one. Do they still exist? I believe they were based out of Fort Worth Texas. Thanks guys

Are you sure it wasn`t a 16ft? I know T-Rex has a 16ft hull and trailor for sell but the only production 17ft Laser i know about was a basser. Anyway i thing Laser Boat`s of Texas is no more.
From time to time you see a 19ft 380 around here for sell. They are great boats but i understand about you wanting what your dad had.

Brucato's is a 17'. It's the one you put me on, Bull. We all thought it was a 380 but it's not...only 17'. I think the hull is a 2500xf.

    actually

that one was called an 18'--because it had to bee at least 17'10" to meet MOD-VP class minimum length, which it did, as it was specifically designed for that class in 1983.

Yea, I didn`t know at the time. Tony and i did some comparing between my 380 and his boat when we disscovered the differance`s in length. Some pretty major modification`s had to be made somewhere for that boat to exist especially in comp form. I`m glad he love`s it and even glader that he can drive it! That boat is in such good condition that it looks new.

Great boat. What motor and set back/jack plate are you running? Do you have a foot throttle, kill switch, good tight stearing and a good 100mph life jacket?
If all that is in order and you have the hp mid 90`s is reachable and safe with a Laser 380.

Tell you what. Start your own thread in the Tech forum so we don`t hi jack this one. I`ll be watchin for it.

the boat is a project of mine and right now we have given her a beautiful paint job whith viper colors of yellow red blue and some hemi orange, I have a 200 carb motor with lower water pick up. The lower gears appear to be 2/1 and I have a hydraulic jack plate with a 5 inch set back. The sterring is hydraulic and seems to be doing fine since i installed a torque steer plate.
the problem seems to be driving, the boat seems to like the chopper style prop but develops a server chim walk at 70 when the motor bullet is lined up wth the hull bottom. Everyone are telling me that i have to balance the boat through sterring to get it through this chime walk. I also have the cleaver prop that also acts the same way. Guess im looking for any pointers.............

Hi. I just purchased a 20 year old (88) Laser Bass Boat, which I assume
can be called an 18 footer, since the Virginia registration shows 17'-10"
    length.

I mostly hang out on a Dodge Charger Forum, as I have 2 '72 Charger SE's
and a '66 Charger Fastback, but I am hoping to tap into the vast knowledge of the forum members here in learning all I can about the Laser.

It has a fresh Mercury Black Max 150 OB, and about all I have learned prior to registering is that of the company's address in Roanoke, Texas. Powercat's address is what I have, with a street address of 526 Benson Lane.

I don't even know the model of it (there were about 6 or more produced
in 1988), although I do know the Hull ID is CJM02583F788.

Anything any of you can tell me about it would be greatly appreciated by
    this 53 year old angler!!

"Cwylie", I don't mean to hi-jack your thread, please excuse me if it appears I did, and as I learn more about Lasers, I'll certainly pass
    it on to you!!

Here's what it looked like December 21st, when I picked it up for $500.00:

I did change the 14" wheels and tires to 15", had a new tongue coupler welded on, as well as
new safety chains and axle hubs before I drove it back from North Carolina to my fishing
buddy's farm outside of Oklahoma City.

Thanks everybody for your time, and I'm looking forward to being a member here.

    Jer.
