Are Yami drag props worth fixing?
I've got a 26 Yamaha drag prop that I put about 10 hours on it. Last time out it developed a nice 2" long crack from the center of the blade to the trailing edge. After doing a little research, I realize that these Yamaha props are NOT an "everyday" prop. With all the flexible alloys in this prop, is this worth fixing? I know how pricey these are, but am I throwing good dollars on bad? For an "everyday" prop I'm looking hard at the Hoss Tritons and Hydromotive TX3s. Thanks for any advice.

i use one as a all around prop..... but use the taller pitches...... 30p i also use performance copies, and dont have any problems... i have several true yammi too.. how many rpm's do you spin it?????????????? if you going to spin it 9500 or more i dont know if i would use it....... may tear up your cavatational plate when it comes loose... 2" is a lot for those kinda rpm's....JMO

I have a 24" thinn'd yamaha drqag that haz been welded 4 times...Never the same place...I have a guy locally to weld it, and balance it...Baggy haz worked it from the box untill now, and I kan promise if ya look'd at it, U kan never tell it haz been welded!!!....I wouldn't hesitate to run a professionally welded, and prepaired prop!!....If ya prop man is worth hiz grits, he willnot weld a prop if it iz questionable...JMO

You are probably better off buying a Mercury Lightning ET to replace your Yamaha drag prop for everyday running,
but when it’s drag race time… the Yamaha goes on!

a 2" crack on a trailing edge is a lot, for a everyday prop.......... i have welded to many different metals to remember them all.... that is the strongest part of the blade...
