Old tether boats and cars
Here is an interesting site regarding the early days of model powerboats and cars . All engines and boats were handmade and paved the way for thr RC explosion of the 70's . Look around on here , some fascinating stuff !

I had some of the Cox engined toys in the late 60's I had several of the airplanes that you flew with the two strings, a dragster that followed a string that you had to setup on a paved surface, and a dune buggy that was slow enough that you could chase it around. You could set the wheels either straight, or a right or left circle. I wish I still had all of them now. I never got to own any of the real remote controlled ones.

Those are some really cool design boats. Interesting that they are still doing that today. That is how it started here in the U.S. too but as far as I know no one is running tethered boats here. I bet a tethered boat going round and round at 135 mph is wild to watch!

THATS BRINGIN BACK ALL KINDS OF CHILDHOOD MEMORIES... TETHER CONTROLED COX PLANES FROM "HORNSBY'S"... THE BUGGIES YA GOT FIRED FROM FLIPPIN YER TEN SPEED OVER AND TOUCHIN THE FLYWHEEL TO THE SPINNING TIRE.... EVERY TIME I FIND SOME OF THE OLD TREASURES AT THE LOCAL FLEA MARKETS..I ALWAYS BUY EM .. TRYING TO INTRODUCE ONE OF THE MENY INSPIRING TOYS FROM YESTERYEAR TO MY OWN KIDS IS KINDA FUNNY THEY HAVE ALL BEEN SPOILED WITH TODAYS TECHNOLIGY... BUT SOMEHOW THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD SEEMS TO SHOW UP JUST TO EXPERIENCE THE "DIZZING THRILL" OF HOLDING ONTO A LINE POWERED BY THE CASTER BURNING "STINK" THAT MEMORIES ARE MADE OF.........
