B&WB is "The Magazine of Performance Fishing Boats".
Testing Bullets and Allisons certainly is relevant for such a magazine.
If BRP chooses not to cater to the high-performance crowd, it is a reasonable choice, but that does not mean that we should read even more about bay boats in B&WB in order for the BRP engines to do well in tests.Markus' Performance Boating Links:

we walk
a thin line when choosing test "platforms". If we choose a "mainstream" hull of course we'll appeal to more anglers--it's simple math. If we choose a "high performance" hull we'll appeal to those select few who own one, and appeal to the dreamers in those who would love to own one but likely never will. Similar to the car magazines...we all drool over the Vette, Porsche and Ferrari testers, but most will never own one. Testing the everyday vehicles is sometimes booo-ring, but everyone has one of those.
In all reality, engine shoot-outs are more in demand yet becoming more of a rarity every year. Cost, political minefields, and advertising are all reasons. We will likely do more, but each will be more carefully researched, set up and executed than ever before. Above all...we will be sure to select a boatbuilder who exhibits the least amount of favoritism possible. We all exhibit some...after all, we wouldn't be human if we didn't. The trick is to minimize it at all costs.

I'd like to see in family engine shoot outs:
175 vs 175XS from Mercury
150 vs 150HO vs 175 vs 200 small block from BRP
Comparing the winners would add to the fun, but I guess that would be more difficult.

I personally do not think BRP wants that test.....Enough said on that, I would love to see that one, besides the BRP side the 175 OPTI performs higher than the pro xs version on every bass boat comparo im reading, maybe its just certain hulls, or hot optis?

That is the missing link, they have in H.O. category the 150, 200, 225 & 250 so why not the 175. Great company with lot's of history right here in my back yard. The man leading this company has always had the midas touch even if he was not really given a choice originally to take over.

WE also need some OPTIONAL Gearcases starting with the OMC V8 F1 original which already exists. Just needs the BRP Magic touch to make it bullet proof together with optional gears.

Would be something to talk to the guy's at any event or boat show. The more people talk and ask the better chances are they will hear you and do something about it. I have a friend who works for themas a machinist, I should ask him what he knows since he's a boat freak too with a Hydrostream.

175 Ho
So you guys know very important people are aware of all of us on Scream and Fly that talk about the Etec, heck Merc guys watch also.....They are looking into the 175 HO, however it was told to me that its not as easy as taking the 200 and putting on the graphics and lower unit, besides certifcation, testing etc......It has to run good and perform at the level the other HO's have shown......If we keep on doing what we do we will have good showings in the future......Email BRP if you can everything helps...oh and guys the new 115ho/130 looks totally bad ass at my store.....the cowling with induction hood and the chiseled apperance of the pan and plastic, it really looks like a small v6.......I post asap

Just got my Fury Prop in yesterday for my BassCat Sabre and Etec 150HO. I will post pics of my GPS numbers sometime this week. Currently for my 2008 Model I am hitting 66.5mph and now with my fury my goal is for 68 mph/GPS on this "little engine that can". Over the last 7 months since I have owned my boat and Etec I can't tell you the number of guys who come up to me and comment on how quiet the motor idles..... It think some a surprised on the the GPS speeds too but with the right setup for the newer model boats with similar setups I am hanging right in there 175 Opti guys... Now I do understand that the Opti's are going to be faster since the have a few more ponies but I can't imagine how well a 175HO would do. I am not into all the science on speed and I will leave that to you more experienced chaps. I just like to turn the key and go. If Etec comes out with at 175HO I would be very interested in that engine. However, with the 200HO out there already I am sure BRP would not want to cannibalize that market. To be continued....
