cool
now....BIG..I'm just letting you know what happened to me, and my experience with a 86 whaler 18 outrage..
i dreamed about that boat... and I pushed it for speed.
the same year "back THEN" 1986
a guy in my neighborhhod, named "BARNEY" had the same new boat
barney is...action marine.hollywood florida..
any how i had my 235, then i ran a badazz flatback 150 gt ported ...and thats when i spun the outrage a couple times...
back then there was a jackplate from land and sea racing..new hampshire.
we called it a step and jack
i had one on my 15 whaler with a 3cyl 49 cube omc, and it would pull an ez 6000 with a 23 sst rx ..silver streak.
..and i could ski behind the 15 boston, with the rx
so then the outrage..new boat the step and jack....62--63--64.. and Barney could walk me with some kindofa black merc.
...not by much..
.for a few round trips to the tiki bar....
........60 miles each way....uhhh an hour or so!!!.............at over 5500 all the way
I had the feeling the 15 whaler could shed the waterflow off the bottom..
.spray out to the sides
with no parasitic drag......
I got pictures.
then the 18 outrage would accept the horsepower...but the spray from the rolled keel would get trapped in the whaler sponsons, and scruff off true topend....
so I ran way too high with a 20 inch engine on a jackplate on a 25 inch whaler transom.
keep the whaler forever...if you never had one you can talk about a whaler..
.. when you have a whaler you do not have to explain.
.(especially older models)
i have 4 or 5 70 omc engines...i'm looking for another 15 whaler...
sickness, speed, a day that is the best.. go boating and have ..a
goodride
