Both the engine and the propeller have 15 splines.
    What about the thrust whasher?

    Yamaha prop on Merc

    The splines are the same.

There is a one degree difference in angle between the shoulder on the propshaft on Merc. vs. Yamaha, so a Yamaha thrust washer does not quite fit a Merc.

There are prop shops that offer special washers.

However, in practice, the brass is soft and lots of people use Yamaha thrust washers on Mercs, so I would not worry.

    Yamaha Thrust washer

I have run the Yamaha thrust washers for years on Mercs. The only thing is that you need to cut of the little protruding portion of the thrust washer that would push against the prop shaft seal on the mercurys prop shaft. That small lip must be removed or it will destroy the prop shaft seal. You can just cut it off with a hack saw and then file it smooth.

The 2-stroke Suzuki V6 engines had OMC style prop shafts that don't have splines all the way. I don't know about the 4-strokes.
