what do you think the surge could be. maybe the fuel press is to high and flooding over at cruise. what should i set the fuel press to. also im gonna take the advise you guys gave and put the airbox back on. also i have the pump wired to the ign. and at times if i turn ign on to start it will flood the engine i then have to disconnect the pump and hold the trottle down then when it firesup connect the pump then it will run fine and i only have to do this on the initial cold start in the morning at the ramp.

Wiring to the switch is ok, but I wired mine through a relay, and put an inline switch in the circuit so the key switch can be on, but I can turn the pump off. That switch is also hidden, so if someone tries to steal the boat while we are stopped, the boat will shut off when the carbs dry up. Just a thought.
The surging may also be from being too lean. (may go away when airbox is back on)
