I know on Dave's boat with the original SBC 406 he was running a Mercury Bravo1 28 lab spinning to 6000rpm at 90mph. Anxious to see what this new setup does!

Odd I didnt see Jr.s post when I replied to yours...hes right.

I WAS running a labbed 28 at 6000 RPM and could get it to 90. I probably should have upped the pitch to a 29 or 30 and targeted for 5500, but that would have effectively killed the hole shot.
With 3 across the back and 2 in front it was pretty slow out of the box.

How many RPM and whats your lower unit ratio?

My boat always ran better with a 3 blade prop but I couldn't find big pitch props.

It's a 20.8 GM 502 that was stroked to a 540 2.5 years ago. Produces 605HP, not any thing over the top or fancy, just good ol' fashioned reliable horsepower.

That was with a 28P 14.25 diameter. I put a 30P Bravo One 15.25 diameter on ran 84.7 mph at 5000 rpm. I think it's time to send it off to Bblades and have them lab it for me.

Just drug this home. 1988 18'10" with an XR4 on it. The seats needs some love, but it looks great otherwise.

Question about the seats for whoever has one of these. There is about a 12x12 piece of 3/4" plywood glassed down on tops of the tunnels that the front seats (blow molded plastic shells it looks like) are held too with wood screws. There's not much thread engagement and IMO its a ****ty way to do it. Aside from through bolting them through bottom of the boat, is there a better way? I was thinking cut the plywood out and glass in some stainless TEE nuts, then glass it back down.

Any tips for setup? Its been running with the XR4 at about 4" below for all it's life. I'm hanging a 200hp 2.4L on it with a CLE and a jack plate....will the jack plate add too much set back? Should I shorten the bracket?

Ditch the interior, make it a center steer, slap that 200 on and go racing. Lake Elsinore Gran Prix Enduro 4/7-4/8

I don't know about the 18' but I have a 21.2' and it needs the setback and is still a bit heavy in the front.
I think your idea of stainless t-nuts is right on and is what I would do. I hate wood screws in boats...especially if they are holding my butt in the boat!! Be sure to put some anti-seize on the stainless bolts before screwing them into the t-nuts. Stainless on stainless likes to seize and spinning t-nuts are never much fun.
