I wonder if porting the heads and throttle bodie and monkeying with the exhaust would do much w/ out being able to change the programming

Can you say beg? cry, whine, threaten suicide, sell soul, make promises, and eventually there they were.. A few got out, and are still out..I heard about 100 were made..
Wisecos? I sent Wiseco a couple pistons and they made me a couple sets..First set lasted 20 minutes..second set works fine..They are very honorable..I would have used .30 over Etecs, but they weren't out yet. Also did some oiling changes to the pistons and block on #2 piston..We went oversize for porting issues..known only to "them"..ECU's are an experiment. Can't say any more..Engines are 2 years old, but low hours..

I've just fitted a 250HO to my STV Euro.... I was very close to buying a black motor (always had Mercs) but glad i didnt, The E-Tec performs great, is good on fuel and the warranty (even if i choose to race) is hard to ignore.

Repower question
I am getting ready to repower a 224 stoker. When the boat was new (2006) it was rigged with a 05 Yamaha 300 VMAX. In stock form the speed was not there so a few hydotec items where added, ex tunner, big bore throttle body, milled reed blocks, carbon reeds, milled heads. and solid motor mounts. I picked up about 4-5 mph over stock.
I know that the new Yamaha VMAX300(second generation) are stronger than the old VMAX.
But what I don't know is how the new ETEC 250 HO and Mercury 300xs and Yamaha VMAX stack up.
Last time top speed was all that I wanted , now it is my family ski boat but I still want good top speed. I don't want to modify the new motor.
This is what the hull looks like.
