Rude E-Tec 250 H.O.- Who is running them?
Anyone running the 250 H.O. E-tec? I'd appreciate any feedback good or bad. Trying to decide on Merc or Rude....the yami's are so heavy! How much more power does the H.O. version put out than the normal 250 e-tec?

one guy at work who i dislike is running one on his champion 210 and is seeing 73 out of the setup, he says it is a big difference from his 225h.o.
also if im not mistaken my boss said somewhere in the 270's for numbers on it. So far my co-worker has had no problems with it, but then again hes a puss and doesnt run anything hard.
I have heard tho, that the 250xs is still faster, i guess champion told my boss that they are seeing higher numbers with the merc than the brp.

It depends on which 'Rude/Merc/Yami you're looking at. If you're wanting to compare DFI engines, the Evinrude 250H.O., Merc 250XS, and Yamaha 250 VMax Series 2 HPDI are all about the same weight. If you're comparing the Evinrude to the Mercury Verado and Yamaha 4 stroke engines then there is a HUGE weight difference.

Joe, Immitation is the SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY. Thankyou for making this magnificent photo available for plebs like me to pass on to an incredulous public. Yes the E-Tec is getting close to the "TOP OF THE HEAP" in "BONE STOCK POWERHEAD DRAG RACING" A little more dialing in, perhaps a lighter boat and BRP shares will RISE RISE RISE. My heartiest congratulations on your Drag Racing successes as well Joe.

LN - boats in the video's you mentioned aren't running 250 HO's. They are running MOC (Modified) class.

You beat me to it Darren, I was gonna say that neither of those boats in the videos are 250HO's. They are both MOC boats running older OMC/BRP's with just the HO decals.
At the time of the 2007 Sydney B2B there were only three 250HO's in the country.
But, Yes, the 250HO will run 85mph 2 up...

Wondering...
can the 300xs's run in same class with the 250 HO's??
If so are the 250's competitive?? Asking because I was shopping for a pair of 250's for my 24' Sonic when I discovered that I could get 300's for the same (if not less) moneyI'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

No to 300xs
Can run the 250xs in the same class. The 250 HO's have proven very competitive against them when the xs runs a coned torque master rather than the Sporty - the sporty seems around 2 mph slower

In Aussie ski racing the 250HO can race 'up' a class against the 300XS. Depending on the configuration (hull size & weight, 1 or 2 skiers etc) the 250HO will be as quick, if not quicker than a 300XS.
A 19 footer with a 250HO will be quicker than a 21 footer with a 300XS towing 1 skier for example.
There are no 19' boats running a 300XS just yet nor no 21' boats running a 250HO to compare like with like.
