how much faster would a Promax 225 be vs. a 225 OptiMax???
how much faster would a Promax 225 be vs. a 225 OptiMax??? 2-5 mph??? a guess is fine of course. I would be putting it on a 1986 Starcraft CPS 20ft (Hull minus motor and rigging 1200 lbs.)
Also what about mpg??? thanksStarcraft CPS 20 , 225 Mercury Promax

if the starcraft is aluminum the opti will be faster.... and better on fuel... they need the stern weight to run right

thanks for the reply, the Starcraft CPS 20 is a Art Carlson design, its fiberglass and has a big flat pad on the bottom it's a ski boat. i could post a photo if someone would show me how its a very hard boat to discribe.

know the design, starcraft did a variation in ALUM and 1 in glass so if yours is the glass hull its a tough call... i still say 6 one half dozen the other.... 1 may take 6" setback and the promax may take 8-10 but overall the opti will be better on fuel and carry a warranty if new, 3.0L torque with the opti helps get a couple skiiers out faster down low.. but the promax may have a slight top end advantage.... personally i would go optimax on it but Id go the PROXS variant over all i will guess speed difference will be less than 2 mph
