Repower
I hava a 25' V-bottom with Bob's engine lift and a Honda 225 (yeah, I know...). Anyway, I'm ready for less sluggish and more powerful motors, and here's the challenge; which engine to choose? I am considering engines around 300 hp. The boat is not a race boat, but I like to obtain a decent speed (doing 60 today). I'm having trouble deciding if I should go for Merc (Verado, Opti), Evinrude, Yam.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Welcome to Scream And Fly!
If top speed and overall performance is your goal, the Mercury OptiMax 300XS would be tough to beat.

300 XS if you want shear power and performance, 300 Verado if you want a little bit less, but silent power. If this is a 25" shaft, then you can rule out Yammie because the only 300 the offer in 25" is the 300 based off the V8 350 platform, probably a little too heavy for your application and the 300 E-Tec is just trickling out now, I would wait a year on that unit. Go with proven technology, Opti of 11 years and Verado of 4 years.
