    Mercury 300xs Bang Bang!!!!!!

After 4 hours of breaking in my new 300xs, it blew its brains out, taking the gear box as well.
Has anyone had, or heard of this problem before.

Were you beating it up? I was told to keep mine below 4000rpm's for the first 10 hours. Not a single problem yet

We were breaking it in between 4000 - 5000 rpm for the first 2 hours, varying the speed every 2 minutes. Then for the next 2 hours varying the speed every 10 minutes.
To coin a phrase, we did it "exactly as it says on the tin"

    What exactly did you blow?

I bought a new 07 Concept 326 w/twin 300XS's with the new at the time Heavy Duty Offshore Fleetmaster gear case (Torquemaster case without the torque tab).

40 hours I shattered the clutch dog on my port motor. It looked like I rev'ed up to 5K RPM and slammed it in gear. NO- that is not what happened! I was crusing around 50MPH (top end 73MPH) and it went bang. I had it fixed in less than a week.

50 hours I shot rod #2 thru my block and in to the ECU so they couldn't tell me how/what/why it happened. It took 7 weeks to get a new powerhead. GRRR!

55 hours and winterized right now- hope this season is better than last...

First post by no profile new member says motor and gearcase blew brand new. That seems unusual. I smell something fishy here. It would seem like a warranty question with dealer rather than internet posting.
